| Bound to Slavery: James Shannon and the Restoration
Movement
James Shannon (1799-1859) was an early leader in the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement in America. He also moved in higher education circles, serving as president of the College of Louisiana (Centenary), Bacon College (forerunner of Univ. of KY), the Univ. of Missouri, and Christian Univ. (Culver-Stockton College). Relive the years of a growing social movement, a passing frontier, and an approaching Civil War through the eyes of a "fire-eater" who was much better at talking about the terms of unity than he was maintaining it. |

Campus Bookstore
We maintain a walk-in store presence at the Ekklesia Campus Ministry house, 1405 S. Florence. Dan & Gaylene Green serve as campus ministers and would be glad to show you our holdings in stock. If not in stock, we will be glad to order for you.
History
Champion Publications was founded in 1999 by Barry and Cathy Poyner in order to publish Dr. Poyner’s dissertation on James Shannon. 1999 coincided with James Shannon’s 200th birthday! Proceeds from two cook books were donated to the building fund at the Kirksville Church of Christ where we worship. A third cookbook is being compiled from attendees of the 2008 summer meeting.
Mission
We began the company in order to bring to print needed works in the brotherhood. We also desire to assist churches and individuals by providing resources at reduced prices. This is accomplished through dealer agreements with publishing houses such as Thomas Nelson Publishing, Guardian of Truth, Hanna Publications, Gospel Advocate, 21st Century Christian, Select Books, A Cappella, Taylor Publications, DeHoff Publications, Gospel Light, Quality Publications, Apologetics Press, Star Bible, Haun Publishing, Lambert Book House, Promise Publishing, Gospel Services, and others.
Catalog
We partner with 25 Christian bookstores across the country to publish a shared catalog. Over 80,000 catalogs were published. This year we advertised two of our unique offerings on page 16 of the catalog. The new fall catalog will focus on our new work, This Is My Story: Sharing the Gospel. Inside the pages are many other products not advertised on our webpage. The webpage supplements by adding items not in the catalog. Contact us for a catalog.
